J. J. Abrams to set new TV Series in San Franicsco!  It hasn’t even been six months since Lost was laid to rest, and already J.J. Abrams is heading to another island. According to Variety, Fox has given a pilot commitment to a pitch from Abrams for Alcatraz, a new show based on a script by Lost writer Elizabeth Sarnoff. Tthe action will take place in the legendary San Francisco prison that housed such colorfully named bad guys as George “Machine Gun” Kelly and Alvin “Creepy Karpis” Karpavicz — not to mention Al Capone himself.  Alcatraz has been a favorite setting for movies and TV shows, but Abrams we suspect will add some new takes on the old island themes.  It will be interesting to see what he comes up with and hopefully some Bay Area actors will get in on the action!

Cannes--Given the crash diet forced on the international market last year, American are encouraged that the market suddenly appears very available again.

"The pendulum has swung back the other direction," said WME's Graham Taylor," asserting that foreign buyers' appetite for projects is back again. Its becoming a seller's market again after a few lean years.

Last year's market reflected the constricting indie film scene worldwide and nearly empty pocketbooks didn't produce many sales, but because of the relatively few sales many foreign distributors are now short of product. At the same time producers and financiers have had to play a tighter game with financing, which means prices may be right for everyone this year.

For all our META members and affiliates who are attending this market, we wish you the best of fortune in finding distribution for your films!

Thanks to Variety for information.

JJ Abrams new show

This sounds good. But I have a feeling that it will be shot mostly in LA in a sound studio.
