A new film by LAURENT LE GALL of Free Run Pictures. Laurent was both Producer and Director. The documentary about the Burning Man event was an official selection of the Santa Cruz International Film Festival, and has screened in Paris and New york as well as locally in Northern California at The Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, and the Castro Theater in San Francisco.
"Voyage in Utopia is a remarkable piece of story telling. It does
what our event is said to do: it evokes the inexpressible; it
invites imagination to inhabit the unknown."
- Larry Harvey, founder of Burning Man
Here is what Laurent has said about making the film:
"The size, the beauty, the difference, the creativity (of Burning Man City is) on a scale and with a power I'd never seen before. The unbelievable energy exerted and the omnipresent creativity which unleashes a palette of emotions. The city is swarming with people and it never sleeps.
All five senses are constantly called upon. Feelings well up inside, making you feel light and profound at the same time. The experience pushes you to ask yourself. Are you ready to live like this ?
Burning Man is not an event any more, it is a movement.
I want to understand and explain the reasons for the infatuation and success this festival creates: here in the middle Nevada desert and now at the dawn of the 21st century.
In these past years, I have continued to document my time at the festival.
I've been dividing my life between California and France for 10 years. This country is as strange as it is fascinating. My relationship with America evolves every day. . .
