Congratulations to ROBERT W. PLATH, Founder and Executive Director of the Worldwide Forgivenss Alliance, for the best-ever, 13th Annual, International Forgiveness Day Celebration held this year at Dominican University in San Rafael, California. Featured, were celebrated author, Marianne Williamson, pictured here with Bob, who received the Champion of Forgiveness Award for her work for peace and sharing forgiveness teachings of A Course in Miracles for over 30 years. Also featured at the event were Congressman John Lewis, Democrat from Georgia, and Elwin Lewis, a former Ku Klux Klan member who had beaten Lewis during a civil rights protest in South Carolina in 1961. They both received a Hero of of forgiveness Award, as well as did Christopher Rodriguez, an Oakland teen who forgave the man who shot him in the back, leaving him paralyzed, earlier this year. Presenting awards were former Mayor, Willie Brown, and Marin Representative, Lynn Woolsey, who was arrested with John in April of 2009 at a protest over the explusion of aid groups from Darfur.
Mr. Lewis has promised to work in the Congress to propose a bill to make Forgiveness Day a national event, as well as bring attention to the United Nations to the idea of Forgiveness Day as an International Day of Celebration.
