The Film Society's Fall Season is fast approaching, including the return of Cinema by the Bay (November 5-8, 2010), the three-day festival that celebrates the passion, innovation and diversity of Bay Area filmmaking and features the best new work produced in or about America's film and media frontier.

CALL FOR ENTRIES
Works in all genres (narrative, documentary, experimental and animation) and lengths are accepted; The Festival requires a San Francisco/Bay Area premiere for feature length films only. There is no entry fee to submit your work; enter online.

KURZNDSCHÖN AWARDS
supports young talents who have produced short format works in the area of time-based media, including narrative short films and music clips, commercial spots or on-air design applications as well as movies and other time-based formats for the internet or cell phones. AWARDS: A total of 25,000 Euros will be awarded in a number of different categories. ELIGIBILITY: Kurzundschön is open for students and trainees with focus on the moving-image media (design and film schools, art academies, broadcasting stations, production- and PR-companies). ACADEMY AWARDS COMPETITION
is currently accepting documentary and short film (40 mins. or less including credits) submissions. Each category has strict eligibility criteria based on commercial theatrical release and “Best of” awards in Academy recognized film festival categories; see website for details. MCCLA VIDEO FEST
Videfest celebrates its annual festival and contest. Videofest offers a space for videomakers to focus their work on the theme of Labor and Dreams. This combination honors the idea of work in the community, the dreams surrounding labor, the hopes that await us in the future, the significance of work done by men and women whom as beings never stop dreaming. INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL AMSTERDAM (IDFA)
(November) will screen some 200 new documentaries dividing among more than thirteen festival programs. The festival has six competition programs. Creative documentaries of any length completed after 1 August are eligible for IDFA 2010. LOCATION: Amsterdam, Netherlands. WEBSITE: www.idfa.nl. ENTRY FEE: none.
