POSITIVE NEWS is a publication anchoring us to the higher truths as well as reminding us to be positive in a time of economic meltdown, contraction and fear.
POSITIVE NEWS' mission, in their words, is "to bring hope, exemplify solutions, inspire to action, and connect with those who create positive change. We envision a world where people treat each other with respect and kindness, where we consider the earth to be our home to care for and enjoy. . .and we know that this world is in the process of emerging. POSITIVE NEWS is a reflection of this widespread emerging movement and tells its stories."
The Summer issue, (all issues are free) features stories like "Jasmine the Greyhound: a Mother to All"--which tells the story of an abandoned greyhound found and brought to an animal shelter in England. After she was cared for, she began to welcome other animal guests to the shelter, especially nurturing and caring for baby animals. She especially like to cuddle with them. She found her way of contributing by taking the stress away from them and helping them to settle in. So far, the article reports, Jasmine has cared for a fawn, 5 fox cubs, 4 badger cubs, 15 chicks, 8 guinea pigs, 2 puppies and 15 rabbits. She has become inseparable from the fawn. She reminds us of the pure and unconditional love that animal companions can bring to each other as well as us.
This is just one of the heart-warming stories.
Another article, entitled "You are Brilliant, and the Earth is Hiring" tells about Paul Hawken'scommencement address at the University of Portland, Oregon. He said" When asked if I am pessimistic or optimistic about the future, my answer is always the same: If you look at the science about what is happening on earth and aren't pessimistic, you don't understand the data. But if you meet the people who are working to restore this earth and the lives of the poor, and you aren't optimistic, you haven't got a pulse. What I see everywhere in the world are ordinary people willing to confront despair, power and incalculable odds in order to restore some semblance of grace, justice and beauty to this world." Paul Hawken is a visionary, environmental activist and the Founder of Wiser Earth.
